Mood Disorders & Suicide Research Lab

The Mood Disorders & Suicide Research Lab (MDS Lab) is an interdisciplinary team jointly built by the Vanke School of Public Health at Tsinghua University and the Medical Psychology Experimental Research Center at the Army Medical University.

Our Mission

Grounded in mechanism-driven research, we address the mental health needs of priority populations. Our primary focus is on self-harm and suicide risks within depressive and bipolar disorders, aiming to bridge the gap between basic research, clinical practice, and public health applications.

Our Approach

Through close collaboration between researchers and clinicians, we integrate multi-dimensional data, including:

Genetics and neuroimaging

Multi-system physiological mechanisms

Natural language and speech behavioral features

Real-world digital phenotyping

Our Goal

We systematically characterize the dynamic, contextualized patterns of suicide intent and behavior. Our work provides translational scientific evidence to support the early identification, dynamic monitoring, and evidence-based prevention of suicide risk.
